Strong schools build a strong Montana

Montana’s public schools fuel every part of our state: workforce, economy, local business, community stability, and long-term growth.

This is about more than kids — it’s about Montana’s future.

Workforce starts in the classroom.

Every career pipeline begins in a Montana public school. Trades, healthcare, agriculture, small business, tech, military service — all start with strong K–12 foundations.

Montana cannot build a future-ready workforce without strong schools. Digital literacy and career and technical education need to be included in the way Montana pays for public schools.

Schools keep rural Montana alive

In many Monana communities schools are often the largest employer, a major purchaser of local goods, the center of community life -- and a driver of local tax stability. When schools cut jobs, entire towns feel the impact.

Parents move where schools are strong. Businesses invest where schools produce talent. Communities grow where families stay and thrive.

Every time after-school programs, transportation, or staff are eliminated, parents reduce work hours. Business lose employees. Rural communities weaken. Schools and childcare are deeply interconnected.

When schools weaken or close, towns hollow out. When schools thrive, Montana thrives.

A well-educated generation is Montana’s best economic strategy. Kids who graduate and succeed earn more, start businesses, fill trade shortages, contribute to local economies, and keep communities strong.
