Montana Loves Public Schools was founded in 2025 by parents, school board members and educators after years of school cuts, layoffs and closures around the state. MLPS is a short-term, grassroots campaign created to inform and activate Montanans during a narrow window: the School Funding Interim Commission review that will shape the 2027 Legislature’s decisions. We are not a permanent organization, a lobbying group, or a union affiliate. Our one focus is the funding formula.

Our mission is to help Montanans understand the way taxes, school funding and state law intersect to produce the kind of impossible situations that parents and educators in Montana are all too familiar with. We want to help Montanans take action at a time when lawmakers want and need to hear from all of us.
